Coming back onto this week’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: My Silliest Pet Peeves
WHEN THERE’S WATER ALL OVER THE FLOOR AFTER SOMEONE TAKES A SHOWER.
I mean, I genuinely don’t understand how this happens though. It baffles me. Sometimes it’s like someone took a bath on the bathroom floor. How do you expect anyone else to walk into the bathroom without swimming to the toilet?
WHEN PEOPLE ARE LATE BUT THEY ARE CARRYING COFFEE.
You clearly had enough time to stop for coffee, but not enough to make it to my meeting, Brad? You can leave.
WHEN PEOPLE EAT SOMETHING REALLY SMELLY ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
I’m not a stickler for this because I’ve definitely been there where you’re so hungry and so far from home. BUT even then, I usually eat while standing outside the train station or bus stop – not in an enclosed space with other people. You may not know who has food allergies on the bus/train either which is risky. Mostly, I hate this in the mornings when someone has like a bacon sandwich. I’m usually trying to eat healthy. But I eat when I get to work, so smelling that bacon the whole way to work is excruciating, people!
SAYING “NO OFFENSE” BEFORE SAYING SOMETHING OFFENSIVE.
If you have to preface it with that, probably not the best thing to say. That’s all I’m saying.
MISSPELLING MY NAME WHEN IT’S RIGHT THERE.
This is almost every email I exchange at work. If you’re writing to me for the first time, fine. Even though my name is in my email. But fine. I let that slide.
It’s when you reply to my email but spell my name wrong, that upsets me. That means you failed to check the email address you were replying to, the signature where my full name is, or even above the signature where I write my name in manually AGAIN. It’s just lazy.
WHEN PEOPLE DON’T SILENCE THEIR PHONES WHEN PLAYING GAMES ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
I feel like most pet peeves involve public transportation because you’re in a confined space. I can deal with talking loudly, I can even deal with speakerphone/video conversations. It’s the repetitive sounds of a phone game that drive me crazy.
Anyone else share these?
Yeah, that no offence thing irritates me, too!

The name one gets me too! People always spell it Sdyney. Or they call me Lindsey in real life. I guess I just look like a Lindsey because it’s happened all my life 😛

What? Seriously? That’s not even lazy, that’s changing your whole name! How can you not pay attention THAT much? Hahaha.

The name thing irritates me, but I do appreciate when someone asks how to spell it before they mangle it. One thing around here is to ride the rapid transit trains and not silence the music on your phone. People blast their tunes while riding. I don’t care if you want to jam to your tunes. Have at it. But wear earbuds or something. Jeebus….

Yes! I so always appreciate when people ask how to spell it. But when it’s written for you right there, I’m like “just look down!” 🙈
Also – yes! Especially early in the morning, I can’t handle really loud music just because you forgot your headphones or refuse to wear them. 🙄

Brought up the scene it Star Trek IV where the guy’s boom box is blaring and Spock knocks him out and the everyone cheers. The no offense thing just makes what’s said worse. http://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/04/wednesday-challenge-042220.html

Haha exactly what I want to do when I’m on public transport listening.

I agree with all of yours. Especially the name spelling. I have one of those names that people mispell all the time, even when it’s right in front of them. Thanks for sharing. Here’s mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/lsrs-wednesdays-blog-challenge-4-22-20-silliest-pet-peeves/

I mean you think that if you see a semi-complicated name, that you would take extra care! 🙈

Your post reminded me about cell phones in public, especially if they are checking out in the market! Why must people converse while checking out? And why must we be forced to listen to their conversations? I’ve actually witnessed customers tell the cashier to wait a moment before finishing their conversation. I might add that the conversation was not an important one, too. 🙂 Great post!

WOW – I’ve never seen someone actually tell people to hold on for their conversation. You wouldn’t do that if they were standing next to you? Wow.

My husband would get out of the shower THEN dry off. Um…
If you have to start with ‘no offense’, I’m always prepared to be offended. Kind of like if you have to say, ‘it was just a joke’ after something, chances are, it wasn’t funny (my co-worker is bad about this).
UGH. My name is AMY. It’s three letters and spelled in the most basic, most common, most boring way possible. How do you goof that up? Although, the worst was my co-worker – his name is Joel – got something from someone and they’d spelled his name Jewell. Yeah, I got a lot of mileage out of that one. Hahaha.

Hahahha, Jewell? I always find it amazing that people will go to lengths and make it even harder on themselves when writing someone’s name when they can look and see the THREE or FOUR letters they need to write.
Also – yes, the shower thing is crazy. No logic behind stepping out of the tub to dry off! They also might slip, I’m surprised they don’t!

YES! It’s insane. Not sure if it’s arrogance or simply laziness.
What’s worse is he wouldn’t let me put a shower mat down so when he did stand on the floor, it’d get absorbed by the mat. *sighs* He did slip a couple times and yet continued to do it. That’s the craziest part!

Hahaha oh goodness. I guess he will need to keep slipping!

Unfortunately, I lost him last year to some health issues, but no doubt he’d have kept on falling on his rear! He was rather stubborn like that. 😀

Ah, I’m sorry to hear that. I’m sure he would still be doing that!

Thanks. And knowing Troy, he slipped as he was going through the Pearly Gates. Hopefully there was an angel there to catch him. 😀

With the public transport smelly food one, also when someone is wearing a really heavy fragrance. Great list! Thanks for sharing today.

Water on the bathroom floor is so relatable. I mean how difficult is it to clean up after yourselves?
Great list, enjoyed reading it 🙂

Ah yes, the repetitive, annoying sounds of video-gaming. I raised 4 kids who refused to turn the sound down. I’d yell at them, asking them to mute it, but NO, they said it was a vital part of the game. The same little ditty, over and over and over! ARGH! Oldest son once told me he’d put some new music on my I-Pod. I told him I didn’t like it much. He and the rest all snickered, because “dub-step” was video gaming music. That’s when I taught myself how to delete music I didn’t want!

Swimming to the toilet! I almost snorted my coffee. LOL But that’s exactly what it looks like, right? Yes, I have that problem, too.

Honestly. When I enter a bathroom after someone does that, I have to strategically figure out how to get to the toilet!

The “no offence” one is a beauty. It almost always precedes something rotten coming out of the person’s mouth. And I’ve never really thought of the coffee one but you are so right. That’s very annoying!
